Online Concert with 3 harps – UNSPOKEN RULES
We have had many requests for our informal Kitchen concert to be made available once more and so we’ve decided to do just that.
A bit of background…. This summer I was due to perform in beautiful Hay-on-Wye. Of course sadly that concert was postponed, but in the interim we presented a short online concert. The concert was recorded at our home in Cornwall (in the kitchen), and I played three gloriously different harps – the Wire harp, Bray harp and more familiar Concert harp. Graham introduces the music and the evening, and joins me to perform a couple of times. So in light of requests for this to be aired again, we are now placing the concert online once more for a limited period from 30 October.
The programme includes music by Satie, Piazzolla, Cage and Machaut. There will be a new work for harp by Mr Graham Fitkin and a little Steve Reich.
We all work with assumptions and within frameworks of unspoken rules, life trotting on happily until these ‘norms’ are challenged in small or big ways. Each of these composers has contravened the norms of their time and cultural expectations in their music. Music develops throughout history via these sorts of interventions, so do come and have a listen.
Tickets – £7.50 from https://fitkin.com/product/ruth-wall-kitchen-concert/
Access – you will receive a link on the day of the concert.
Many thanks to Laurie Dunkin Wedd for his kind support for this October concert.
The original concert was supported by Hay Music. We are very grateful to them. You can find out more about the work they do at haymusic.org
